Alfredo Lopez Del Castillo, M.D., 76, died on Jan. 6, 2017, peacefully at home.

Born in Manila, Philippines, he graduated from Torres High School in Manila. He had his medical degree and did his residency in surgery at the University of the Philippines and his residency in anesthesia at Mount Sinai.

He lived on Staten Island for the last 40 years. His practice was at the Pain Relief Center on Staten Island and he also worked in New York Community Hospital in Brooklyn. He was a medical doctor for 52 years in four specialties: surgery, internal medicine, anesthesia, and pain management. After four medical specialties, he found his passion in helping people in pain management.

He was a member of t he Tottenville Racquet Club and enjoyed playing tennis, and loved telling jokes.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Peggy Lynch Lopez Del Castillo; his daughter, April; his brother, Edgar, and sister, Maria Acierto.
