Neck
Pain, Herniated Disc Healed with Prolotherapy
Ross Hauser ,M.D.
Frank is a 40 year old male came to
Caring Medical from western Illinois with complaints of
severe
neck pain. At the time of the initial consult, his pain
was constant and radiated to his elbow causing tingling in
his thumb and index
finger. He took large doses of Advil to
help with the pain. The pain had been present for a number
of years but a recent death in the family had caused enough
stress to intensify the pain to a 7/10 level. Frank was
desperate for permanent relief.
He brought
MRI
results that showed a
herniated disc that was compressing a
nerve. Dr. Hauser diagnosed Frank with
cervical radiculopathy and told him that
Prolotherapy would be a great option for him. He also
recommended 3-6
treatments to heal his pain. Dr. Hauser treated Frank in
the neck and upper
thoracic region
with a standard
Prolotherapy solution
and told him to return in one month for another treatment.
Frank was instructed to avoid activities that illicit the
pain, as well as to work on proper posture when working at
the computer or throughout his daily activities, trying to
avoid head-forward posture.
Over the next few months Frank
experienced gradual healing and pain relief. At his second
visit he stated that he had a 20% improvement and was able
to discontinue use of all
pain medications.
Although he did not realize it, discontinuing pain
medications is a great sign that healing is occurring. Frank
achieved 50% improvement when he came to see us for a third
treatment. His range of motion had improved and he no longer
had pain when he looked up or moved his head from side to
side. The relief he was feeling encouraged him. He was
definitely hopeful that he would be able to return to a
normal life.
With three treatments under
his belt Frank left our office expecting to return in
another month. But three
Prolotherapy treatments
did the trick for him! We called Frank three months later to
see how he was doing and he reported that he continued to
live pain-free with 100% improvement. He was experiencing no
tingling down the arm into his hand. We called again six
months after his third treatment and he was still pain-free
and very happy with the results.
Frank is an example of someone who chose to live with pain.
Unknowingly, he could have been healed years ago with
Prolotherapy! A certain stress in his life (family member’s
death) caused an even further increase in his pain and
sprung him into action. In just three months, he experienced
permanent relief. |
