Dr. Kaplan has over 20 years of osteopathic manual medicine experience having graduated from Chicago Osteopathic Medical School in 1994. After serving as a US Army physician, he completed a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program at the University of Washington in Seattle.
He continues to participate in education of local medical residents and regularly lectures for the Sisters Hospital Osteopathic family medicine residency program.
Dr Kaplan was one of the first physicians to introduce ultrasound technology to the practice of spine and sports medicine in Western New York.
He is one of the most experienced ultrasonographers in this area and utilizes ultrasonography for diagnosis of various musculoskeletal and nerve conditions and for guidance of anti inflammatory and regenerative procedures.
His treatment expertise ranges from treatment of chronic migraine headaches and various spasticity disorders with Botox, to steroid injections for painful spine and joint conditions, to the use of regenerative medications such as Platelet Rich Plasma and Prolotherapy.
Additionally he is one of the few specialists in Western New York that performs a procedure called TENEX percutaneous microtenotomy that addresses painful chronic tendon injuries by removing dead tendon tissue and revitalizes the injured tendon without invasive surgery.
