Dr. Jon Freckleton has spent many years honing the skills needed to open Aspire Osteopathic Acupuncture and Wellness Center and Aspire Performance Sports Medicine. With a life long investment in fitness, sports and wellbeing he has trained and raced through many years of education and work, so he understands the demands placed on a body that is stressed or injured. Dr. Freckleton has achieved victory Nordic skiing, bike racing and surfing with many years of hands on experience to open his practice in Steamboat.

During his first trip to Steamboat in 1990 for Junior Olympic Cross-country Skiing Dr. Freckleton knew he'd found a special town and planned on coming back as often as possible. After spending time in Norway on a college exchange with a focus on athletic training and coaching he returned to the U.S. to University of Colorado at Boulder. Here Dr. Jon channeled his passion for sports training and biomechanics into earning a degree in kinesiology at CU Boulder. As part of a special thesis program he spent time studying elite athletes at the Olympic Training Center. Additionally, Dr. Jon was a member of the CU road, mountain and track cycling teams and CU nordic development program. It was through a friend in the cycling team that he met his first Osteopath and decided to pursue Osteopathic Medical School.

After graduating from CU he returned to Steamboat for a year to prepare for and apply to medical school. During this time he helped coach at Winter Sports Club and raced bikes and skis. He decided to attend University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and moved to Maine to begin Medical School. His belief in the body's ability to heal itself with the aid of hands-on manipulation led him to specialize in traditional osteopathic medicine early on during medical school. After graduating from medical school Dr. Freckleton did his residency in Family Practice and Osteopathic manipulation with two years of study of rural primary care in Craig Colorado. While working in Craig Dr. Freckleton also found time to help coach masters cross-country skiing through the Steamboat Touring Center and participated in many local races such as the Town Challenge Mountain bike series, the Steamboat Pentathlon and the Steamboat Triathlon to name a few.

Throughout his education Dr. Freckleton followed his interest in many different modalities of helping the body to heal itself. This led him to learn injection therapy such as trigger point and regenerative joint injection, which is also known as prolotherapy. He also studied medical acupuncture with Joseph Helms through UCLA. The desire to have a well rounded education led Dr. Freckleton to finish his training in Long Beach, California where he found excellent Osteopathic mentors and gained plenty of hospital experience.

With his medical training complete, Dr. Freckleton has returned to Steamboat once again. He looks forward to raising his family here and continuing to practice his passion for Preventive Medicine through the practice of traditional osteopathic medicine, prolotherapy, medical acupuncture, endurance athletics, coaching and racing as much as work and family allow.
