Dr. Zaharoff is Board Certified by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and a member of the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture.
A graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine in Michigan, Dr. Zaharoff completed her residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship in 1987. She has maintained a private practice in San Antonio since 1987. Dr. Zaharoff is a former professional tennis player actively involved with the U.S. Tennis Association. She continues to write for a number of publications and lectures on a variety of topics related to health and fitness. Her practice includes on site physical therapy staffed by licensed, experienced therapists to optimize each patient’s road to recovery.
Dr Zaharoff specializes in the evaluation and non-surgical treatment of physical injuries and pain including sports injuries. She treats orthopedic problems which may include:
- Muscle, joint, and tendon injuries
- Soft tissue injuries
- Neck and low back injuries
- Overuse injuries such as tendonitis and degenerative joint problems.
Dr. Zaharoff performs a thorough evaluation to diagnose your problem and determine the steps for your treatment plan. Regenerative injections such as prolotherapy using dextrose or platelet rich plasma injections may be indicated for acute and chronic injuries. Dr. Zaharoff’s training with diagnostic ultrasound allows her to perform ultrasound guided injections to accurately target the injury and start the healing process.
